The following is an RP transcript from Discord, capturing a series of dialogues between Cassidion and the rest of the party. The transcript spans several days and remains in its raw, unedited form. As such, you may notice shifts in writing style—this is perfectly normal. Each post has been separated to highlight changes in authorship and writing tone. Enjoy~
Cassidion snapped his fingers, and in an instant a warm campfire burst into life, its comforting glow beckoning the gathered souls to draw near. With his arms folded behind his back and his iridescent wings tucked gracefully, he surveyed the assembly. A soft sigh escaped him as his luminous eyes, filled with both ancient sorrow and divine resolve, swept over the party, his celestial face etched with quiet determination.
“When the world was forged, three relics were born—each a living testament to the balance of creation. The Relic of Dawn, radiant as the first burst of light that shattered the primordial night, shimmers with the promise of hope and renewal. The Relic of Dusk, cloaked in the mystique of the world’s inaugural darkness, murmurs secrets of forgotten ages. And the Relic of Zenith, pulsating with the raw magicks of creation, burns with the fervor of celestial fire. These sacred relics were sealed away by the hands of destiny, their power locked to guard against the relentless forces of destruction and the unspeakable terrors lurking in the far realms.”
He paused with a careful gaze swept over the party, “Yet now, as I stand before, I feel a profound disquiet in the heavens. My heart trembles with the weight of this corruption—a corruption that has defiled even the guardians protecting these relics.”
The seraphim pauses once more, a hand gently rising as if to caress the very air, his eyes glistening with divine sorrow. “I sense its maglignant spread with every beat of the cosmos. You yourself have witnessed the corruption. We must reclaim these relics and invoke their sacred might anew, for if they fall into the clutches of those dark forces from the far realms, not only with our world crumble, but the very tapestry of creation will be torn asunder.”
Haruki stood next to Kazumi, arms crossed and a frown curling his lips. He listened, still a little displeased with the display from Cassidion and aimed to get as much answers out of him, whether by his questions or from those a little wiser than him within his party.
“So, you’re telling me that these are artifacts that we’ve no record of – or at least none of our Celestial host in our city – have bothered to share with us? How can these Relics hold so much power yet have little influence in our day to day? Are they really this powerful that they’ve been secrets?”
He looks at Kazumi briefly, trying to read her expression as he spoke.
Kazumi cast her eyes down, her ears flattening in a silent display of discomfort as if she could hardly bear to meet Haruki’s gaze.
Meanwhile, Cassidion arched a single, knowing eyebrow at Haruki’s inquiry. His voice, rich with timeless authority, resonated as he spoke:
“Do you truly believe it wise to unleash the knowledge of these relics upon all? Why should any mortal be granted access to wisdom so inherently dangerous? Even now, I find myself reluctant to divulge every detail, for these relics can corrupt even the purest heart. It is our intentions that lead us to believe that such power be wielded despite the consequences.”
Then, shifting his gaze toward Kazumi, a palpable chill edged his tone as he continued, “This one can attest to the veracity of my words.”
A scoff escaped Haruki’s throat before he spoke. Looking Cassidion directly in the eyes, he said to him
“No, I don’t expect ALL to know! But I would expect those who hold a responsibility over the safety of the people, like, I don’t know, your fellow Celestial brethren and sisters, to also not be out of the loop? It seemed like a surprise to all of us, unless I’m mistaken.”
He turns his heels so that he’s now facing away, but his head still looks toward who he’s speaking, eyes still at his own gaze.
“Its one thing to ask for our help on something that may give belief and support to the masses, but something world-binding is another. You are putting a lot of pressure on us, and already with very thin trust.”
With a measured, graceful sweep of his hand toward Kazumi, Cassidion maintained his celestial composure as his voice resonated with quiet authority.
“This is precisely why I have granted you the chance to test my words. There exists one among your guild who has known these truths all along. Whether she possesses the strength and resolve to carry this burden, however, is yet another matter.”
He paused briefly, allowing his gaze to fall upon Kazumi, whose eyes darted away in continued silent discomfort. Though his attention clearly unsettled her, she remained silent. Shifting his focus back to Haruki and the rest of the party, he crossed his arms, a subtle frown etching his features.
“It is deeply disconcerting to witness the world’s so-called heroes falter under such pressure. Surely, you have weathered one world-ending event—or perhaps even two—before; how else would your guild have earned its formidable renown? Tell me, were we mistaken in entrusting our faith to you?”
“Faith is a lie.”
Until now, Mordekai had been disinterested in the conversation, primarily because it seemed overly religious, holy and a matter for the Celestial, Kazumi and those that were more disposed towards the light. And also because Cassidion had managed to deflect his truth-forcing aura that he’d honed over years, if not decades, of asking piercing questions to gain knowledge for himself, or for his master. But as the conversation had continued, he’d picked up on a couple of odd points.
“First of all, please do give me all the knowledge of these relics. Either you or Kazumi can provide it. I’m sure Lord Adramalech would love to know.. if he doesn’t already. Ooh, I hadn’t considered that. Maybe the Master has information himself on these relics of yours, hm? I could beg that knowledge of him in furtherance of the Eternal War…” The Tiefling smiled wickedly. “Now, I am bound by the laws and contracts of this guild, and even if I wanted to break them, doing so would cause extreme harm to me… alas. So I can’t just turn them over to him, as the Guildmaster has ordered us otherwise… but… knowledge is often more powerful.”
He put his hands behind his back and began to pace a little. “Though, something strikes me as a little odd. You seem.. awfully inclined to throw the Angel there under the bus. Now, don’t misunderstand me, I like to see her squirm. But I find it strange that you are placing so much of this upon her wings… why?”
Cassidion’s wings fluttered ever so slightly, his gaze never leaving Mordekai as the tiefling spoke. His posture remained dignified, his expression unreadable as his celestial presence loomed still and commanding. When the words “Faith is a lie” reached his ears, his lips curled into the faintest of smiles, almost imperceptible to an observer, though it was there.
“Faith is not lie, but a steady beacon against the profound darkness, Tiefling. You, in your twisted understanding, see it as a weakness—mere contrivance designed to pacify. But that is the mistake of your kind… the fallacy of the mortal mind.”
Cassidion’s eyes narrowed as Mordekai’s mocking tone spurred him forwards. “You seek to learn of the relics? You think that your Lord Adramalech would welcome such knowledge?” Cassidion’s words were cold and deliberate, his gaze pointed and sharp.
Before Cassidion could speak another word, Kazumi stepped forward, and her mortal guise melted away to reveal her true celestial splendor. Her arms shot outward, and six iridescent wings unfurled in a brilliant display, scattering light like shards of dawn as her halo shown down above her. With a low, resonant snarl, she fixed Cassidion with eyes that burned like stars.
“Leave them be. You dare mock my resolve and condescend to my friends. I am fully aware of my duty—and I will remind you of yours.”
Cassidion paused, a sly smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he regarded her with a mixture of amusement and reluctant admiration. “Ah. So the Voice of Sune has teeth after all. Very well then.” With that, he gestured towards Kazumi to allow her to take the lead.
Kazumi exhaled softly before turning toward the gathered party—her cherished friends—and stepping gracefully beside Cassidion. The sight of the two celestial beings together was striking, yet despite the unease she’d shown earlier, she now radiated a commanding authority.
“What further knowledge do you seek beyond what has already been revealed?” she inquired, her voice both gentle and resolute. “Understand that I am bound by strict edicts—any transgression could lead to my erasure, and thus I cannot share everything. However, I promise to answer your questions to the best of my ability. For years—and for some of us, decades—we have labored together, and you know well that I would never deceive you.”
Ulf had remained silent, cautiously thinking about his choice of words as well as listening to the celestial named Cassidion, though the transformation of Kazumi had urged his mind to attack the both of them as his sentient great sword spoke to him telepathically. However his gauntlet gripped the handle of his blade tighter so that the hand would be heard clenching it like a vice
“So these Three Pillars of relics keep the world at bay, we know enough of these relics. But what of you? I do not trust so easily, so tell me more about Cassidion, your not even supposed to be helping us and yet you do so. To gain our trust, but understanding one another comes from learning about each other. I HOWEVER know next to nothing about you. If it were not for Kazumi lunging to your defense over every debate up til now my blade would be at your neck.”
He had said with commanding fear or at least to look imposing but he was not all looks either given his title and how he carried himself
“So, Cassidion. Tell us about yourself and why you are helping us so much. When did this dark force amass, and who leads it?”
Cassidion raised an eyebrow, watching with mild amusement as Ulf blatantly ignored Kazumi. Kazumi, clearly slighted by Ulf, scoffed in disbelief. Without another word, she turned on her heel, wings folding away as she resumed her mortal guise. The glow of her celestial form faded as she strode into the forest, her annoyance apparent but restrained.
Cassidion, however, remained utterly unruffled by Ulf’s attempted intimidation. With his hands clasped behind his back, he observed the party with an expression of thinly veiled condescension.
“My, my… such chaos among so-called comrades. Each of you pulling in a different direction, driven by conflicting agendas. It truly makes one wonder how you have remained allied for as long as you have.”
He let the words hang in the air, their chill sinking deep—cold, measured, and edged with the quiet authority expected of a celestial being.
After a pause, his expression hardened, the faintest glint of irritation flashing in his eyes.
“I do not make a habit of revealing my nature—least of all to self-serving individuals such as yourself… and the tiefling.” His gaze flicked briefly toward Mordekai, lingering just long enough for the meaning to settle.
He straightened, wings shifting slightly, casting faint beams of light across the clearing.
“However, in the interest of maintaining peace—a fragile thing, I see—I will enlighten you. I am Cassidion, Arch Seraph of Ao.”
His voice deepened, resonating with divine finality.
“Under ordinary circumstances, I would not walk among you. But these are no ordinary times. The Celestial Host has reason to believe the blight creeping into our world has reached even the gods themselves. The corruption festers, spreading faster than you seem capable of grasping. And every second you squander—debating, doubting, delaying—draws us one step closer to annihilation.”
Cassidion’s gaze swept across the party one final time, cold and piercing, yet tinged with just a touch of sadness.
“So, tell me—heroes—how long will you continue wasting time?”
Haruki was about to follow Kazumi, but his investigative nature would want to stay and listen to Cassidion. He would go catch up to her in a few minutes.. and upon hearing Cassidion’s position, would find his arms unfold as he brings his body to a better position. Tension lifted as he slightly bowed, out of natural respect, not that he wants to give the Arch Seraph more.
“That.. while I understand the reservation, would have been nice to know where your connection was. And, Cassidion, you have to understand. Unlike Kazumi, a mortal like me, and one who is overlooking the security and safety of my city, I have to be very cautious of all the details. Missing one thing in any investigation can be life or death for any party involved. I’m sure my comrades hold similar perspectives, and its why we are all still alive to this day, despite what we have gone through.”
Haruki folded his arms again, but would give a better posture to show he is going to be more attentive.
“Thank you for sharing who you are.”
Mordekai was a practiced student of people. Reading them, discerning their intents, things like that. Even with his back somewhat turned to Cassidion, despite the apparent threat of attacking Mordekai earlier before Kazumi’s intervention, he was mulling over the Arch Seraph’s body language and verbal cues. He stopped his traditional pacing and glanced at the Celestial with a cocked eyebrow.
“I am not, as you say, ‘self-serving’. I serve multiple individuals, with multiple agendas. The Guildmaster, Lord Adramalech, even Asmodeus himself to a lesser extent. I do serve my own agenda as well, ’tis true. But it is not the sole reason for my presence. That being said… your agenda is not fully clear, on two counts. The first is that you frankly seem detached from this entire world-ending issue, opting instead to have mortals do your bidding. To be true, I believe your point about the blight creeping unto this world is reaching the domains of the gods. But you are not as.. panicked.. about this as you should be.”
The Tiefling started pacing around the fire again, looking towards the forest where Kazumi had wandered off to. “She is of Sune, and I know plenty of Sune from being around Kazumi, Haruki and Enialis. But Ao? Now that’s a name I haven’t heard of in a very long time. Ao, for those of you who are unaware.. is the creator-god, who created the gods of Toril. And he has a very.. indirect methodology of working with mortals. Ao is hands-off, as they say. That makes you, Cassidion, a disciple of this creator-god. Meaning your presence here is an omen, either of salvation… or destruction.”
He paused, putting some pieces together. “Comrades, we are ensnared in a cosmic game of which we do not fully comprehend. And I suspect we will not until the score is tallied.”
Ulf remained as he was hand on the handle of the blade. His eye never fading from Cassidion’s sight
“We may have different agendas, however be that is it may. We fight for a similar goal and that is whatever better suits the Guild. I do not trust many people but I trust my comrades. We will continue to aid in your agenda still.”
His head nodded when Mordekai spoke about having mortals do his bidding, a question he had on the topic which was then answered and next followed up with a question from mordekai’s own mouth. Ulf nods his head as to the being that is Ao a god of creation..
“Then it is as you said Mordekai, we continue and tread with the upmost caution. For if we fail so will the whole system of stars we are in. Given that they do not replace us with another pair of mortals.”
Ulf smirked giving a cheeky grin, dimples pushing into his cheeks as his eye gazes towards Cassidion
“I look forward to tomorrow, though for now I am going to rest.”
Ulf stood up and turned about as he went to relax and rest, whether it was a good or short rest, he would worry over Haruki and Kazumi though given she is a Celestial being he felt she was better off with Haruki nearby. So Ulf remained leaning against the trunk of a nearby tree one that was cut in half so the stump was shooting over his head.
